Are you currently looking to rent? Has it been a struggle? Don't know where to start? Whether you are a local trying to find your next place called home or someone looking to move to Hawaii, we want to help get you started and headed in the right direction. Some states/cities have rental agents that represent you as a renter and help you find a home to rent at a cost. This is not a common practice here in Hawaii and with the tight rental market as is, you really need to jump on the properties you are interested in.

Many who relocate to Hawaii want to start with renting and eventually purchase once they figure out where they really see themselves making a home. This is a common preference and although we do not personally handle rentals we do like to assist our clients with getting started with their rental search. There is nothing like trying to find a place to live in a town you do not know well. Oh and not being able to visit to secure a rental is also a common concern. So here are some helpful tips to get you started:

  • Get setup on the MLS Gateway for Rentals (see below)

  • If you aren't familiar with Hawaii and have some questions about neighborhoods, cities, communities or types of homes, feel free to contact us, we will be happy to answer your questions. We understand how hard it is to pick-up and move to a place you may know very little about. (see below)

  • Search Honolulu Star Advertiser's Sunday/Saturday Rental Section Weekly, suggest their online subscription. If online, go to top right SUBSCRIBE and once in under menu click HOMES-->RENTALS

  • Craigslist is a place to search, just be aware of scams that take place

  • Trulia RENT App is a place you can checkout on your phone, download the app today! (see below)

  • Larger Property Management Companies may have inventory to look through, like our ELITE company websites for long-term & vacation rentals, (see below)

  • Vacation Rental Apps & Online Websites can be helpful, especially for 30+ day rentals that could turn into 1-6 month leases if you negotiate with them.

  • If you are here on island and looking at condos, check out the condo building's lobby bulletin board. They usually post current rentals in the building, best to check with security/resident manager for entry into the lobby.
